Invisalign braces are very popular among adult dental patients in Solihull. Instead of a traditional fixed metal brace, Invisalign are clear and removable aligners which look very similar to retainers. Over time, Invisalign orthodontics have evolved and there are now a variety of Invisalign treatments designed to treat different complexities of dental misalignments:
- Invisalign: Often recommended to treat mild to complex orthodontic issues in adults including overbites and underbites, crossbites and open bites, overcrowded teeth and also gaps between the teeth.
- Invisalign Teen: Working in the same way as Invisalign, Invisalign Teen is, as the name suggests, for teenagers. There is no official age limit for Invisalign Teen treatment (it is assessed on a case-by-case basis). Teen patients must have most of their adult teeth and be old enough to adhere to the regimen of wearing the aligners for a minimum of 22 hours a day.
- Invisalign i7: This treatment is recommended to fix minor orthodontic issues among adult patients including orthodontic relapses, minor crowding and spacing issues.
Invisalign Vs Invisalign i7
When it comes to Invisalign treatment, your Orthodontist will begin by assessing your dental structure, taking impressions, scans and x-rays to create a bespoke treatment plan to move your teeth to the desired position. Your treatment plan will involve several clear removable aligners which are all made from a strong but flexible plastic called SmartTrack, a patented thermoplastic material created exclusively for Invisalign treatment.
Patients will need to wear each aligner for a minimum of two weeks and there will be an order of which each aligner is to be worn. The good news here is that your Orthodontist will issue you with your full set of bespoke Invisalign aligners at the start of your treatment so you can change aligners from the comfort of your own home without revisiting your Orthodontist. Each aligner is designed to apply slightly more pressure to your teeth than the one before, and they are all trimmed (by your Orthodontist) to fit your exact gum line. On average, you can expect to wear your Invisalign aligners between 12 – 18 months. That said, for mild misalignments patients may only need to wear their aligners for 6 months. And on the flip side for more complex teeth straightening issues, Invisalign treatment could take longer at around 24 months. Your Orthodontist will confirm at your initial consultation the duration you can expect to wear your Invisalign brace.
Invisalign i7 works in the same way as the standard Invisalign brace, with the exception of the type of dental issues it can treat. Invisalign i7 is an aesthetic treatment developed specifically to treat patients with minor dental complications. Invisalign i7 is therefore more affordable, convenient and the duration of treatment is often shorter as misalignments aren’t as severe. With Invisalign i7, patients typically receive up to 7 transparent aligners (hence the name i7) in their treatment plan with results beginning to show at around 3 months.
Just like with Invisalign treatment, Invisalign i7 aligners are custom-made and trimmed to ‘‘hug’’ each tooth and the gum line. They’re also clear, removable and are a snug fit over the top of your teeth which make them virtually invisible, unlike traditional fixed braces. Patients will be issued with all 7 of their Invisalign i7 aligners at the start of their treatment and again, there will be a specific order and duration they’re required to wear each one. Each Invisalign i7 aligner is shaped slightly differently to the one before to apply more pressure to your teeth, but they all work together to move your teeth into the new, desired position.
Invisalign i7 treatment requires a lot of discipline from our patients; The aligners can be removed and should be removed only for brushing and cleaning your teeth, as well as eating and drinking. This is something our patients love about Invisalign treatments as there is minimal impact on their lifestyle when they undergo orthodontic treatment. That said, patients will need to wear their Invisalign i7 aligners for a minimum of 22 hours a day and avoid the temptation of removing their brace just because they can (the treatment won’t be as effective or successful if the aligners aren’t worn for the daily recommended time).
How Much is Invisalign i7?
We touched on this earlier, but Invisalign i7 is cheaper than a standard Invisalign brace. With Orthodontics For You, an Invisalign i7 treatment plan is available from £2,000.00. For comparison, Invisalign Teen is available from £4,800.00 and Invisalign is available from £4,000.00. It’s important to keep in mind that these are guide prices for a private patient based on a single arch (lower or upper) and an average level of treatment complexity.
It’s also worth noting that if both arches require treatment, the cost of your Invisalign i7 treatment will be higher, but not usually double. The good news is that with Orthodontics For You, patients have the option to spread the cost of their treatment over several months without having to undergo credit checks; Click here to find out more.
