On hand for your emergency needs

When things go wrong

The good news is that orthodontic emergencies are rare.

However, should something occur, we want to make sure we can sort the issue as soon as possible. Whether you’re dealing with a broken appliance, poking wires or any intense discomfort, we will do our best to book you in for an urgent appointment.

Common Issues

Eating sticky or hard foods can cause loose or damaged brackets, which will need to be replaced or repaired.

If the bracket is broken and still attached to the wire, cover it with orthodontic wax, so you are comfortable, and book an emergency appointment.

If you’re experiencing any mouth sores or tooth soreness, especially after an adjustment, we recommend taking some with over-the-counter medication.

To help ease mouth sores you can also rinse your mouth with a solution of salt water.

When your teeth start to move, a poking arch wire can irritate the soft tissue of the cheeks. Contact our practice for guidance and to book an appointment.

Emergency Care

If you experience trauma to the mouth, gums or teeth, infection or swelling of the gums, mouth or face, or severe and unmanageable discomfort please contact us immediately.

It is important that you do not try to self-repair a damaged orthodontic device yourself.

We can restore or replace any part of a damaged brace system.
