Orthodontics For You Net Zero Commitment Policy

Orthodontics For You are committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050. This commitment was made 16/01/2026 by Mark Forty, Practice Principal.

Our Net Zero Policy involves reducing carbon emissions across energy, waste, procurement and travel, aiming to align with the NHS goal of becoming net zero by 2040 -2045. Key strategies include switching to renewabIe energy, minimising single use plastics, optimising patient and staff travel and adopting digital workflows to improve sustainability.

Key Components of a Dental Net Zero Policy
  • Energy Efficiency: Transition to LED lighting, lnstall smart meters/heating timers and choose green energy suppliers.
  • Waste Management: lmplement strict waste segregation to reduce inceration, particularly for clinical waste.
  • Sustainable Procurement: Choose eco-friendly, durable, or reusable products over single-use plastics and support local suppliers to reduce transport emissions.
  • Travel Reduction: Encourage staff to use active travel (walking/cycling) and offer dental monitoring to reduce patient travel, which contributes signifcantly to the carbon footprint.
  • Digital Transformation: Use electronic records and digital paperless systems to cut down on paper usage
lmplementation Steps
  • Appoint a Sustainability Champion: Assign a team member to lead environmental efforts
  • Caibon Footprint Assessment: Measure the current footprint to identify high emission areas.
