Preparing for your child for their NHS assessment.

When coming in for your NHS assessment, please don’t be nervous. No one here bites, there are no needles or drills. This appointment is all about looking and assessing and a lot of talking.

The orthodontist will sit you back in the chair then and will have a detailed look in your mouth. They will call out some information to the nurse who will make notes on the computer, don’t worry if you don’t understand everything that they say, dentistry has its own funny language.  When the assessment is complete the orthodontist will sit you up. Sometimes it is necessary for us to take x-rays of your teeth so we can get a better idea of what your teeth are doing. If you need x-rays one of our trained nurses will talk you through the process and take the x-ray for you.

The orthodontist will then discuss with you the findings of your assessment. Not everyone is eligible for NHS funded brace treatment, but if you are the orthodontist will tell you what the next stage is for you. You may have to go on the waiting list for treatment. If you do not qualify for NHS funded orthodontics but still want so have treatment we have several affordable orthodontic options available.

Emma or Abbie our treatment co-ordinators can discuss this with you in detail, they will answer any questions you may have.
